Hockey Playbook App

iPlayBook Hockey App

I just came across this new Hockey playbook app called iPlayBook IceHockey, designed for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, is now available on iTunes.

iPlayBook IceHockey allows the user to draw plays, position players and create drills -- all in the palm of the hand. Users can choose from three different ice formations and diagram face-offs, power plays and penalty kills, then share their plays with coaches, players and fans.

Working like a cross between a whiteboard and on-screen animation, iPlayBook IceHockey lets the user reposition players by touching and dragging them around the screen. Users can even draw passes with the touch of a finger. When a play or drill is just right, the user can save it to the photo library as an image or e-mail it to friends directly from within the iPlayBook IceHockey app.

In order to draw, you need to first enter ‘Draw Mode’. Just tap the button on the bottom left corner of the screen to enter Draw Mode. This button toggles between 3 states:

1. Draw Mode – Your finger acts like a marker on a whiteboard. Also when in Draw Mode, if you move a player token, a trailing line will appear.

2. Eraser Mode – Your finger acts like an eraser. Just drag your finger across an area to erase drawing.

3. Locked Mode – In this mode (which is the default), touching the screen with your finger will NOT result in any drawing. Also, moving player tokens will NOT result in trailing lines being drawn.

Tap the Save button to save your current play. The play will be saved as a picture in your iPhoto library. From iPhoto, you can email or print your play. Save and retrieve within the application is a feature under development.
