New Jersey Devils' Coach Retires

Devils' Lemaire Retires as Coach

"I will be 65. It's just time"
Jacques Lemaire's second stint as head coach of the New Jersey Devils has been a short one.

The longtime National Hockey League coach announced Monday that he was retiring after more 17 seasons behind a bench.
"It's tough to leave what you like aside, but it's a decision that I made and I will do," Lemaire said Monday.
Lemaire led the Devils to a 48-27-7 record this past season, but they were ousted in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs in five games by the Philadelphia Flyers.

It was the 64-year-old's second stint with the Devils. He coached them from 1993 to 1998, then spent eight seasons with the Minnesota Wild.

Lemaire said the first-round elimination had nothing to do with his decision.
